The Wildcat Wind Farm spanned 80 square miles throughout Madison and Tipton counties in Indiana. Due to the large project footprint, the project required extensive planning to work around non-participating land owner properties. The project had substantial civil work with over 30 miles of wind turbine access roads and over 57 miles of new public roadways to be constructed throughout the project.
The project was built during 2012 during the wind energy boom prior to the PTC expiration. In order to meet owner PTC deadlines, the project was built on an accelerated schedule and required 4 main erection crews working 24 hours a day to finish erecting approximately 70 cranes in 6 weeks.
