The Settler’s Trail Wind Farm located in Iroquois County, Illinois spans 20,000 acres.  In order to facilitate the clients early spring turbine delivery commitment White Construction had to prepare foundation sites and pour concrete in extremely cold weather where temperatures and precipitation fluctuated, and many times the temperature would drop below -20 degrees fahrenheit. In order to construct the foundations in such harsh weather conditions the temporary concrete batch plant was completely retrofitted with an insulated housing unit and the well water was heated prior to being added to the concrete. White Construction also used heavy tarps, insulating blankets and massive forced air heaters were used before, during and after the pours to maintain ACI required temperatures for concrete placement.
