The Highland project was constructed in Cambria County, PA on a reclaimed surface mine, harnessing the inexhaustible wind over land that had once produced coal. Due to the poor soil conditions, 14 turbine locations required Deep Dynamic Compaction (DDC) to stabilize the subsoil and increase bearing capacity to safely install the wind turbines.
White Construction worked closely with Nordex throughout the project as this was the first installation of a Nordex turbine in the United States.
